Control Panel Wiring Technician

Job Summary

The Control Panel Wiring Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical control,
wiring, and lighting systems. Additionally, they inspect, diagnose, and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or
fixtures.

Essential Functions

  • Assemble electrical control panels, junction boxes and wire harnesses for manufacturing equipment and automation.
  • Assemble & fabricate controls according to specifications, including layout and physical mounting of components to the back panel and wiring of all components.
  • Determine dimensions and layout of back panels and enclosures.
  • Mount components to back panels and areas.
  • Route and bundle wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards.
  • Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, interfaces, and instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.
  • Apply power to control panel and test functionality
  • High standard of quality and attention to detail.
  • Collaboration with engineering to ensure that work is done correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Communicate red line changes to Controls Manager for revision before completion
  • Communicates effectively with all team members, leads, builders, engineers, and the Project Manager
  • Run metal enclosures through a preprogrammed fabrication machine as needed.
  • Run din rail and wiring duct through preprogrammed cutting machine as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.

  • Strong organizational skills overseeing multiple projects at once.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good communication skills.

No Supervisory responsibilities.

No Travel is required for this position.

Required and Education Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology required.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in electrical wiring field.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • High computer literacy - ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and self-direct.

Preferred and Education Experience

  • Electricians License
  • Secondary education or technical degree in an electrical field is preferred.
  • Experience with Autodesk or EPLAN.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience in the design of industrial control panels.

Salary Range: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
