Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Salary Range: $113,748 - $125,419 annually for the Hayward Office Location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

  • Monthly reconciliation of a variety of general ledger accounts including cash, prepaids, operating leases, accrued expenses, inter-company accounts, and deferred revenue.
  • Ongoing review of daily inventory transactions, preparation of month-end adjusting entries and monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory to the general ledger.
  • Ongoing review of daily sales tax transactions, preparation of month-end adjusting entries and reconciliation of Avalara monthly reports to the general ledger.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of required state and city business licenses and tax filings
  • Provide analytical support to the Controller and CFO during the monthly financial statement preparation and review cycle.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and consultants during financial audits, ensuring the timely completion of necessary audits and filings.
  • Provide support to the monthly expense reporting review and posting process.
  • Provide backup coverage for out-of-office team members supporting the daily accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Provide critical support in processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll including bonus and commissions, salary adjustments and ensure compliance with payroll rules.
  • Manage or support potential projects to enhance system functionality, replace applications, insurance renewals, compliance audits, improve processes, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage issues a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in similar listed responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of operational accounting and financial statements.
  • Cost accounting experience in manufacturing/construction environment a plus.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Certinia, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, etc.).
  • ADP Workforce Now experience in a multi-state environment highly preferred.
  • Practical work experience with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Problem analysis.
  • Judgement and problem-solving.
